Is it ok to use tap water in my fish aquarium if it sits for a day or to first

    Two days should be fine. Odds are a day would also work, but might not in higher concentrations. If you put an airstone in the water, it greatly speeds up the chlorine breakdown. Then you should be fine at one day. One thing to keep in mind if you are doing the recommended weekly 25% water change is that you could drop the aquarium water temperature by putting in 68 degree sitting water in the winter season.

    It's usually easier to either do more but smaller water changes (then chlorine concentration probably won't be an issue), or just put a few drops of dechlorinator in the new water, and mix before adding it to the aquarium.
