    Ice hockey rotation (rest):
    - first line: best players, backed up by the second line.
    - second line: backed up by the third line.
    - third line: replaced by first line.

    • No, the third is replaced by the fourth line which is a checking line. The third line is quite often interchangeable with the secon or forth lines, depending on how the individual players are prforming on a given night or shift. If the whole team is playing poorly all the lines might be mixed and matched so that the player showing the most spark that night get more ice time. First line gets the mst ice time and the fourth line the least, in general the better you play or perform the more ice time you get by being moved up in lines.
