It probably would contribute to the rampant starvation, disease and warfare already caused by economic disparities. In a way it would exacerbate what has been occurring and probably has always occurred. In the West and other "first" world countries we tend to ignore the fact that most of the world's population lives on the edge of poverty or in it. These people live hand to mouth and as urbanization and global warming has occurred their ability grow what they eat where they live has decreased significantly. As well, the more densely populated a place is the more likely it is to be unhealthy. When we support economies that provide cheaper labour at any price we draw people from self-sufficient livelihoods to wage based one. When the plug is pulled on these jobs the personal infrastructure that previously supported these folks is no longer in place. They risk further poverty and starvation as a result.
