How about accepting yourself.... for who you are meant to be. Why White? Skin color, in my opinion, shouldn't have a factor on who a person is or "rank" a person like it does to some.

And when you get down to it, we all are human..we all are equal. All have the same mechanics inside of us. People who hate others just on the basis of the amount of melanin one has, is crazy.

Wouldn't it be better to accept and love yourself and your skin color that you were born with, and appreciate that?

I am white, pale, people tell me I need to get a tan. Which personally I have tried and just damaged my skin. And didn't feel pretty being pale. But seen people damage their skin and age their skin basically for looks...in the long run think changing one's skin is damaging either way (darker to light or lighter to dark) and should be avoided. And to think it will solve something, it won't. That comes within...

    • I spent it with Keysha and Rags (my cat) so yes. :) I hope that yours was wonderful too.
      .
I find it sad when someone does not accept themselves. I answered another of this asker's questions:

You took one tack and I took another. Oh I suspect that he might be stirring racial dissent with the questions so I am watching him. Or, they might just be questions.

    • :) sounds like yours was good> Mine..eh lol hoping the new year will just get better (was stood up lol and in bed by 9pm lol oh well, can just get better..I hope! at least already got plans for next year at least:-p)

Yea I find it sad too, but I can feel empathy..I am in the process of accepting myself for who I am, just in total. But I am in the progress of accepting my paleness, as well.. granted graveyard shift has me beyond pale. I admire those of darker skin , find it beautiful. But came to realize, pale has its attractiveness in itself. And if I was suppose to be darker, I would of been born such ;-) Not worth the skin cancer and early aging!

Yea hard to tell motives on here... just got to keep an eye to see if one is sincere or trying to stir up trouble:)

    • I feel empathy but the activity on the asker's account is suspect. However, I answered in such a way that, even if the asker IS a troll, maybe others shall happen upon it. I just showed some good looking dark skinned people, a few celebrities and a few regular folks on AB (via their profiles).

      Accepting yourself is not easy.
      .
As far as paleness, I am not "supposed" to be pale. My people are normally a honey medium brown in color... I am pale for my people. And, in my culture, being pale is a negative thing. I had to come to terms with that and, as a lad, I tried EVERYTHING to tan.
      .
I realized that 1) I am not going to tan, 2) being so upset with this is disrespectful to my Gadje (non-"Gypsy") grandfather... my father told me that (he was darker than me by the way), 3) I have very attractive skin, or at least the Ladies think so.
      .
Also, the few times I am gotten on for being a "pasty" the others climb down the throats of whoever does it. :)

    • One thing that interests me is cultures and how they can differ. There are cultures who desire to be pale. Either way, one should be happy the way they wore born, and see it as a blessing and not a curse:)

lol well if anyone on here gives ya a hard time, I will back ya up:)

    • Yeah it's easy to throw in all that stuff of equality and everything that could possibly come out of that, but when someone discriminates you or says harsh things to you because of the color or tone of your skin, It's not so easy to find ease in the concept of being all of the same kind...It's cool that some people might wonder why dark/brown (not white) colored people "hate" themselves so much, by saying stuff like 'Skin color, in my opinion, shouldn't have a factor on who a person is or "rank" a person like it does to some', but in reality, society ranks people by their skin color. And even If you accept your skin colour, there will always be discrepancies with your surroundings, and it's really hard to put up with it and actually being happy with the way in which you were born.

    • There are discrepancies whether or not you accept yourself.

I could hate my ethnicity and that would not change the racism against me. It would just make my life more unpleasant.

It is not easy to put up with but it is not going to change.
