Vegetarians - if you don't like meat, why do some vegetarians eat meat analogues (soy bacon, sausages, burgers, TVP as mince)?

I am vegetarian and have always wondered that also. To me it's a mockery, and in a way defeating the purpose of being a vegetarian i.e. they are wishing for meat. This is just my opinion and I might be wrong lol.

    • I don't know it means we're wishing for meat, I like soya products for their own merit, not just because (if at all) they taste like meat.
If what you say is true, and we are all 'wishing for meat', is there anything wrong with that? Ethically, it isn't going against the principles of vegetarianism, because it isn't supporting the killing of animals. If anything, it shows people are deliberately going out of their way to find an alternative. I just don't understand your reasoning.
