What is the orgin of the Greek name Dimitri/Dimitrios?

    They are forms of the original Greek Demetrios, which is a name in reference to the god Demeter. Dimitri is actually a Russian version originally, whilse Dimitrios is a modern Greek version of the original.

    Hence my saying "they are forms of the original" "the greek". The question was not about saints bearing the name. When I don't include the information that you want the answer is not incorrect.
