The other answer is correct in spirit but it perpetuates the (very common) misunderstanding that Gross Domestic Product is based on "products produced". In fact, GDP is a measure based on the entire economic activity of a nation, regardless of purpose. This means that, for example, a country whose factories dump pollutants into the water supply will have a high GDP compared to a nation whose factories are clean, since the cost of cleaning up is counted as additional economic activity.
Whether or not this makes GDP an appropriate comparative measure depends very much on your point of view.
