    Shavale is very happy

Once upon a time Boxing day (in the U.K.) was the one day a year wherein the masters and the servants (or in the army, officers and the enlisted) traded places.

    • Traditionally in both the UK and our mess, the officers serve dinner or in the case of naval officers, they do that or whatever watch is up meals. JR's sit and are waited upon essentially. It's a way of bonding and ditching rank for a meal. There are no "Sirs".

    • Until 1963 I think it was ( before my time anyway) the people who don't work for a living also served up a tot. Now it's a beer. Our Navy is based on the RN. It's wet. We have beer vending machines in the mess for example.
