Like every part of the Law, the Sabbath points us to Christ. The Jews had to repeat sacrifices over and over to make sure of their standing with God. This was symbolized by the fact that the priests couldn't sit down in the Temple: their work was never complete.

This 'striving' was put to an end on the cross. Hebrews 10 tells us that Jesus' sacrifice ended the striving: "But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God."
The Sabbath has been fulfilled like every other part of the Law. Jesus brought completion to a previously never-ending ceremony.
