JW's do not actively encourage paedophiles, however they do cover/hush up any cases that are brought before the elders, choosing to deal with the matter in house as it were to save face for the organisation. Victims are discouraged from going to the police or from seeking help from 'worldy' counsellors, this has led to some of these ones commiting suicide, and countless others suffering needlessly.

To say nothing of the fact that the abuser is permitted to remain a member in good standing with the congregation, this is salt in the wound for any abuse victim. The reason for this is the three witness rule, no victim can prove they were abused before the elders unless they can summon up additional witnesses to the abuse, which of course they most often can't. This not only leaves the victims feeling cheated and abandoned in their time of greatest need, it also allows the abuser to continue abusing, even moving to another congregation where nobody but a few select elders will be aware of his past.

    • This is noncesce like any other religen there is some paedophiles but unlike many others the JW's are prased by the police for there was of inversgating and deling with them. all evendance is handed over to the police and the accused is banashed from the congration. only those that try to discredit JW's say otherwise looks like you are one. try the truth next time you answer a quetsion.

    • Hi Anonymous, interesting comment, but I'm interested in the evidence you have, because everything I've seen says the opposite, that JW elders do NOT assist the police or hand over evidence.
See the news story just a couple of weeks ago: "Jehovah's Witnesses elders refusing to testify in Murrieta molestation case" (http://www.pe.com/localnews/inland/stories/PE_News_Local_C_trial06.439464c.html#)
These elsers are acting on Brooklyn's explicit instructions.
