The British commando Fairbairn-Sykes double bladed stilleto dagger was only used at close quarters, and the pommel end was also used as a weapon. The knife could be thrown but this was very inadvisable.

    • I have been trained to use the knife and a very effective weapon it is in combat.Marines do not worry about being killed because if they did they would stay in a fox hole and keep their heads down. Its very easy to be a long range sniper but much harder killing face to face.Ask the Argentinians who fought on the Falklands what they thought of the Royal Marines who used the killing knife and the bayonet?
