Read Only Memory. Any type of memory that is written only once, and read many times. Other definitions have forgotten the CD. Your Compact Disc is considered ROM memory, it is written once, and read from many times. (Yes I know that there are rewritable CD's. Those are called CD-RW's not CD-ROM's.) ROM memory is not only limited to Integrated Circuits.
