They do. Other girls can understand clearly everything they say. It's guys who don't understand because they are not speaking the same language. If a girl says, "I don't have a thing to wear," another girl will hear, "I don't have anything new to wear," and she will say, "I don't have anything either, let's go shopping." If a guy says, "I don't have a thing to wear," he means, "I don't have anything clean to wear." If another guy hears him say it he'll say, "So your wife/mother isn't doing your laundry either?"
