Question

Help answer this question below.

I just saw a news story concerning the American political initiatives to encourage 'purity' in young girls before marriage, in the form of 'purity balls'. 17 year-old girls take their FATHERS as their date. What are your thoughts on this?

when i first read "purity balls" to me it sounded like a chastity device- in the veign of a chastity belt. The I realized, or think I realized, it means "courage". If children are taught respect for themselves and others there would be little need for "balls", or dad going on the date. Girls are shown very early that its expected for them to dress provocatively with no understanding of what it realy does to boys. Boys, on the other hand, have been taught women are objects- sex toys- so they have no innate respect for them. With emergence of the male as a sex icon in the past few years any idea of respect for the individual inside the body being lusted after is gone. Its a failure in parenting, and its a tragedy that th media is so influencial that people are no longer seen as delicate souls, but walking bags of painted sex meat.

    • Not exactly. That would be exactly how these 'purists' view women, anyhow. Pure currency. Women and men have equal rights to their own sexuality, and that means if they wish to be 'walking bags of painted meat', then they may. But education is needed. Education can enhance life and bring about new motivations, it can expose the shallowness of makeup, and therefore enhance sexuality in itself.
