    salmonella

aggitation in your lungs or throat stimulates the diaphragm to contract causing you to cough. This is the way the body behaves when there is something foriegn like a cold or flu in you to get rid of it. By aggitation i mean a wide range of possibilities, bad lungs from smoking, fluid of the lung, upset stomach, food lodged in your essophagus(spelling??).
