The first mention of a prophet in the Bible is in Genesis 20:7, and it refers to Abraham. However, Abraham never directly delivered a message of impending judgment, although in this passage, God Himself is delivering a message of impending judgment to Abimelech for having kept Sarah (Abraham's wife) in his home.

Closer to what you may be asking might be found in Judges 6:8. The Israelites were unfaithful to God's covenant, and God allowed the Midianites to rise in power and subdue them. Judges 6:7-10 records that an unnamed prophet speaks the Word of the Lord to them, saying that their enslavement to the Midianites is due to their forsaking and disobeying God's commandment to not worship other gods.

But perhaps closest to what directly answers your question would be the prophet Samuel (I Samuel), who delivered messages of impending judgment to King Saul.

    • Did Anonymous give a low rating for something they couldn't criticize? Sounds hypocritical.
