That depends. Is the permit Indiana Issued? Is the Father an Indiana licensed driver? Does the permit belong to the 14 year old? If you said yes to all of these questions. The father has to be awake and sitting in the front passengers seat.

Permits are issued so you have the ability to learn to drive. The problem with this is you have to follow the rules laid down and remain in the boundaries the permit was issued in.

What could happen if you have answered no to any of the above questions and you are caught. The father will be issued a ticket and possibly taken to jail depending on the circumstances of why the 14 year old was pulled over. The permit will be revoked and the 14 year old will also be given a ticket and held until an legal adult comes to pick them up. The ticket will have a court date in which the 14 year old will have to appear whereas the judge would have to determine what further actions will be taken.
There is no way anyone can tell you every detail of what will happen except the judge.
