My little boy wants his hair cut, but doesn't just want me to buzz it. He wants to grow it out, but he looks totally shaggy now. How can I trim it without shortening all of it?

Its all about the angle of the cut and texture of the hair. Why not go to a stylist?

    • I know, but we are broke and the roads are covered in snow and I always just cut it at home.

    • ok. i assume its shaggy around the neck line and ears- prolly in his eyes. Dont cut the bangs. With your index and middle finger grasp a verticle section of hair and pivot your fingers away from the head until the shotest section is just at yourfingers- trim whats left at a downward sloping angle toward the head. Go arounf the head and clean it up like that. Dont just cut str8 lines. That leaves scissor marks, If his hair is str soften the cut line by cutting into it with the tips of the scissors to produce a sort of chopped effect. These should be just enuff to hide the str8 cut. Does this help at all?

    • When you get to the back of the head you do the same thing, just change the angle to include the lower head/upper neck are. I wish I could find a diagram!!!

    • I'm sure a professional could have done better, but it looked pretty good. He didn't notice the splotchiness in the back. LOL Thank you!
