I am a baptist and this is what I think.
Maybe the person has not been really born again and is still vulnerable in their walk with God. The bible says that when the seed is not properly rooted the devil will come along and steal whatever was trying to grow so that the person may never know the truth. The person may also be feeling pressured by friends or family to become a Mormon. Even if this person has accepted Christ as their Savior and gets lead astray, He will come after his true child and give them discernment.
