Is it possible to generate electricity using the heat produced in an automobile?

    In fact, it is already done in the new electric and hybrid cars. Some have "regenerative braking." A lot of heat is created when you apply the brakes. Instead of letting that head dissipate, the heat is converted into electricity and stored back in the battery.

    • I don't think that's how regenerative brakes work. They are essentially generators, so there is no conversion to heat; kinetic energy is converted into electrical energy directly.
