From Himself, "The light of the world is Jesus"

    For lllmatic:

Psalms 102:26-27 They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end.

Psalms 90:2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God.

1 John 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

The Bible does say that God does not change, God is eternal, He always has been and always will be, and that God IS LIGHT. If He's light now then He always has been. Don't feel too bad though, most non believers think like you. The thing to do now is go back to the book, and find something else to disagree with.

Edit for Gideon, Jesus was most definately on the scene at this time. His body had not been made in Mary, but Jesus was still God at the time.

John 1:1-11 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

    • Christian propaganda and lies. No where in the Bible does it state "Jesus" was the "light" for the days before the Sun made.

    • Jesus wasn't on the scene yet. That's a pretty big stretch for an answer.

    • Using the interlinear Bible from crosswalk.com: the root word "Theos", which has been translated as "God" actually has a number of possible definitions"

      - a god or goddess, a general name of deities or divinities
      - the Godhead, trinity
      - God the Father, the first person in the trinity
      - Christ, the second person of the trinity
      - Holy Spirit, the third person in the trinity
      - spoken of the only and true God
      - refers to the things of God
      - his counsels, interests, things due to him
      - whatever can in any respect be likened unto God, or resemble him in any way
      - God's representative or viceregent
      - of magistrates and judges.

With that in mind, the whole John 1:1 doesn't really hold much water with me.

Jesus is the light of the world....and therefore he is God?

Matt 5:14-16.....(Jesus says) "You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. 15Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

So, if WE are also the light of the world, does that mean WE are God?
