It's not clear in my mind whether or not an individual can actually stunt his or her growth. When I was a child, my parents told me that coffee could stunt my growth, as I always wanted to taste it out of curiosity. I later discovered that while coffee may not be a nutritionally sound item for a child to drink, it's doubtful that it can actually stunt growth. Unless you are referring to some kind of medical condition, certain foods or drinks alone cannot have this effect.

There are cases where a child's growth is stunted by a genetic or health disorder. However, with all the advances in medicine, there are hormones and other substances that can generate a normal growth pattern. As for stunting your own growth, I'd be interested to know how that could be accomplished, so unless a health care professional has given you this diagnosis, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Some children grow at a slower rate than the average, but eventually catch up. This is perfectly normal. But if you think you have reason to be concerned, by all means check with your doctor.
