Help answer this question below.

Please look at my first comment for this question and tell me what went wrong and what I should have done or is it that my expectations are wrong (There is not much space to put the scenario in the question, and so I have put it in the first comment)

    I don't think your boss will be able to tell you off that much - they're adults, they did what they wanted to do.

    Whilst it is inconsiderate by some standards, they might have thought they were doing the right thing by finding someone else and not inconveniencing you.

    They most likely didn't realise the effort and lengths to which you had gone in order to try and make their stay comfortable.

    Also they probably became so carried away with meeting someone from their own homeland and culture that they forgot to keep their promise to you.

    Whilst it's not fair on you as you cancelled your weekend plans, there's not much you can do but be honest with your boss but in a non-blaming way of the guests.

    • Thank you Ausbabe, you are right. I will be honest about it with my boss tomorrow. I was asked to be with them by my boss to that extent. I cannot blame them since they are guests.
