What is the best way of raising funds for a community organisation?

    We formed a committee to raise funds to build a new public toilet in town. Our target was $10,000 (the rest of the funding would come from the Shire Council).We ran a dance and auction which was very successful. We ran raffles one after the other for three years. We had a huge poster in a shop window drawn up like a brick wall, and 'sold' the bricks (min $1) & put people's names & donation on it. Even kids were donating their pocket money so they could get their name on a brick! I raffled myself to do the winner's ironing for a month. We raised the $10,000 in just under three years, and the building was finished just before Christmas.
