Your question concerns me. If you are joining to be with your boyfriend, you
are probably doing it for the wrong reason. A conversion comes from inside.
You feel that it is right and true. You want to experience those feelings on a
regular basis. So, you become a member through baptism and receiving
the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands.
I venture to guess that that will be more impressive to your boyfriend than just
    joining to be with him.

    • Agreed. I once dated a Latter-day Saint girl and I did eventually wind up joining the Church, but the missionaries were very careful to make sure I wasn’t just joining the Church for her. If I had, I’m guessing I would have left the Church, once she broke up with me; as it was, my faith had an appropriate basis and I continued to serve in the Church, both locally and as a missionary to Spain. (As an aside, my mission changed me so much that after three years apart, the aforementioned girl gave me another chance and we’re now married with two kids! :-) …but that’s still no reason to make such an important commitment as baptism.)

      Good luck and God bless!
