According to historians the Book of Revelations was written by a Christian exiled to an island, writing against the Roman Empire. Is it possible his writings are completely misunderstood?

    I think they are misunderstood. The Book of Revelation was written as a message to hope to the small group of Christians who were being oppressed by the Romans. It was hope that they would be liberated and freed and their oppressors would be punished. So I don't read into it a whole lot as a . I kind of loosely take a message of hope out of it (and some wicked metaphors). Paris is right, Milton is a better read.
