Because a sufficient number of people of voting age believe that what a person does with his own body is his own business.

But of course, there are laws, and rightfully so, prohibiting drinking and driving, and drinking by minors.

    • If that was true then drugs like cocaine would be legal

    • There are compelling arguments on both sides with regard to legalisation of Alcohol, soft and Hard drugs.
Perhaps take a look at what Holland is doing.

    • Yes, but alcohol doesn't just affect the person who drinks it; many times it affects other people! Think about how many people's livese would be saved if alcohol was illegal instead of just being illegal to drink and drive? Just because they can't drive while drunk doesn't stop people from doing it! And what about all the domestic violence from alcohol?
