Why do cats love being petted gently on either the nose or the head?

    Cats scent glands are located on their face (which is why you see cats rubbing their face on property). By stroking them on their body you're telling them they have great fur, you care about them, it feels good and you like their scent. By petting them on their head they know you like the most important thing to a cat... his/her scent. Do it till they fall asleep and they'll be snoozing for hours.
