Question

Help answer this question below.

I just came across a folk art sand bottle painting of some birds and a buffalo type animal with palm trees...I assume it is a souvenier of some sort. How would this type of art be created inside of a soft drink bottle?

You would be right that it is a souvenir, possibly from south east asia, from the sound of it. Sand art in its most basic form is not too difficult. It requires sand that has been coloured, and this is dribbled into bottles carefully so that the layers do not mix. Making complex pictures in the bottles clearly requires training, but it appears to be a common sort of souvenir worldwide. I have found a lovely pic for you from online of a man in israel making sand art in bottles.

    • Singwell,
Thanks so much. It was quite a puzzler to figure out. The sand art is really quite interesting and lovely to look at.
I'm glad you had a clue for me.
