In Bill Waterson's Calvin and Hobbes comics, as a bicyclist, Calvin's dad says that he hopes gas prices raise to $8 a gallon. In the '80s this was a ridiculous statement. Does it seem that far off now?

I belive that Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes can very well represent a child with aspergers syndrome, being such a child, I have noticed that I can relate to many of the strips. Would you agree? Why or why not?
