What about dictatorship? A monarchy is basically a friendly dictatorship, as well as a democracy is a chosen but slow dictatorship.

Communist, like capitalism, is an economic system - how to distribute the wealth.
Democracy and monarchy are political systems - how to chose leadership and make laws.
They don't actually have anything to do with each other. You could, for instance, have a communist democracy or a communist monarchy.

States which call themselves "communist" are not, they have a system of sate capitalism whereby a self appointed political elite control the means of production instead of in communism where the community should the means of production, following the guideline "To each according to their need, from each according to their abiliy".
