It's talking about feelings, love, hatred and anger.

It says that when you love someone and it changes to hate (caught cheating? who knows?) that the rage is a more powerful emotion than any other kind.

And if you scorn a woman (treat her with distain, that her love of you isn't worthy enough for your considerstion) then her fury (anger+) is more powerful than anything in Hell (and this from someone who had read Dante).

    Hope this helps.
