You're reading Who else think that pornographic websites should be banned?
Comments
Porn breaking up relationships isn't the porn's fault, it's that individual's fault. It's like banning liquor because some people don't have the self-control not to get drunk and act like idiots.
by Zebulon on September 27th, 2008
It spurs it though....hence why I said:
"many times people become addicted" you idiot. Look up the word insidious too, because I'm sure you are unaware of its definition, otherwise you would not have made that comment (and probably d/r me 4 points troll).
by Too cool for school on September 27th, 2008
I didn't DR you, actually. Learn how to argue with respect, rather than immediately insulting the other party.
by Zebulon on September 27th, 2008
Don't take my comments out of context then...
by Too cool for school on September 27th, 2008
You can't blame the porn for a divorce or break-up, you can only blame the person. Yes of course the porn spurred it but if a marriage is broken up over porn, it probably wouldn't have lasted long without the porn either.
.
On another note, there was absolutely nothing negative in Zebulon's comments. You need to learn how to post like a decent person instead of jumping to ridiculous and unnecessary insults. So...Zebulon didn't downrate but I have now taken you down by 2 because overall, since you're being a dick for no reason, this answer was not helpful to anyone.
by Aquatic Eagle on September 27th, 2008
Haha, hmmm I'm being ridiculous because I defended my position after someone took my answer out of context.
My answer was helpful b/c I gave my opinion and supported it with evidence.
Your trolling is neither beneficial nor welcome chump.
by Too cool for school on September 27th, 2008
Your answer was helpful as an opinion until you started needlessly insulting people. In what way did he take your answer out of context? You said that porn can become an addiction and cause breakups. Zebulon said that the person becoming addicting is the one to blame, not the porn itself. Explain to me how that is taking it out of context? It's just an opinion...like yours.
.
It's actually not trolling. If the answer is or becomes unhelpful to anybody then it deserves a down-rate. You unnecessarily insulting people is not helpful to anyone. Get over it.
by Aquatic Eagle on September 27th, 2008
The answer itself is not the unhelpful aspect. I'll admit I was a little hasty in assuming Zeb DR me.
The answer was out of context because I explicitly stated in my answer that "people" become addicted and that the porn is insidious. Then Zeb tries to refute my answer by deleting the fact I said people were to blame (and porn is the vector in this argument). Diagram; original:
"but "porno"s are insidious and many times people become addicted-leading to broken relationships."
Out of context:
""but "porno"s...leading to broken relationships."
by Too cool for school on September 27th, 2008
No matter the context, your point remains the same.
by Zebulon on September 27th, 2008
Comments are part of the answer. If the comments from the answerer become vulgar or insulting, then it is unhelpful. We probably won't agree on that but in the end, I down-rated you for your rudeness.
.
The question is whether or not porn should be banned. Your answer is that because people become addicted and break up relationships, it should be. If you agree that the porn is not to blame for that and people are, then your answer is out of context of the question.
.
Porn is not created and distributed for the purpose of breaking up relationships, it is just something that happens as a side effect. Therefore, it is not insidious.
by Aquatic Eagle on September 27th, 2008
I don't blame you for DR me on my rudeness (I was only a little distraught I received -11 rating before anyone had commented-actually Zeb had commented and thus I assumed he was someone who DR me). No worries on that part.
My answer is not out of context. I was implying that porn is indirectly responsible, not directly. Anyways this a giant circle we are going in.
By the way, I think you are misunderstanding the meaning of insidious, because "Porn is not created and distributed for the purpose of breaking up relationships, it is just something that happens as a side effect" backs up the definition.
by Too cool for school on September 27th, 2008
Insidious means to "intend to entrap or beguile". Insidious would be that porn is created to break up relationships.
by Aquatic Eagle on September 27th, 2008
The context I was implying was "having a gradual and cumulative effect".
by Too cool for school on September 27th, 2008
I'll agree that porn has an indirect effect as long as we agree that the person is more to blame than the porn.
by Aquatic Eagle on September 28th, 2008
Ok, I can agree with that. Good long discussion ha.
