    I had only recently admitted to myself that my attraction to other guys wasn't a phase that would go away and that I was gay when my parents met me during my lunch break from work. After my Dad left to get the car to pick up my Mom she said that she could tell that something was on my mind and asked if it was about a girl I had lived with, and I told her no. She then asked if it was about a gay friend, and I said that she was getting closer and said that I was gay in the middle of a Burger King. For me (and my Mother) Burger King really is the home of the Whopper. She told me not to tell my Dad, but that night she called me to tell me that she told him and that they were OK with it. When my Mom died a few years later, my Dad said that he would have preferred that I be straight but that he and my Mom were glad that I had been honest with them.
