Question

Help answer this question below.

I have an RCA TV hooked to a Comcast digital cable box. 15 minutes after turning it on it starts to hum louder and louder. If you turn it off & then on again, there is no more feedback even if you watch for hours (unless it gets cold again). Any ideas?

I am far from being a TV repair person, but it sounds as if your RCA problem could be linked to it's power supply. It's something all electronics have, and the thing that controls the exacting amount of voltage needed to flow into your TV.

Sometimes that hum you hear actually comes from the TV speaker itself, from it picking up the excessive voltage frequencies emmitted by such an occurance, kinda like when two microphones pick up each others frequency and feedback.

When one turns off the TV, and then back on, the noise subsides, as it possibly frees up a sticking relay in the power supply from that second initial jolt of juice. I'd take it to a repair shop, as it the power supply goes, it will sometimes ruin other components inside the unit making it cheaper to buy a new one than have it fixed. However, the power supply isn't usually too expensive by itself before like that occurs.

Hope this helps ya, and peace!
