I live in Oklahoma, very close to the border, Texas isn't all cowboy country, actually, most people who own them are city slickers who don't know the first thing about what I do, mainly working, rodeo, and ridin. Dallas is a huge CITY so whoever may wear hats there, the "wannabe cowboys", wear those pathetic colored ones like pink and shit and the edges curl up real bad toward the middle and the brim is always turned way up, these people piss me off. Nobody is going to believe you're a cowboy with that piece of garbage on your head. I wear Resistol hats when I work so the sun aint in my face all day and because it's required at IPRAs and APRAs and any other real rodeo association.

Sorry, I just get pissed when city slickers think they know the first thing about a horse or ranch life.

    • as a true texan i endorse this answer. frekin city slickers walkin around in thier leather boots and designer hats would not know what to do with a bronco if they ever had the chance. they use it like a fashon statment. you can tell the real ones because our outfits have some wear and tear, and dust is a must form the farm/ranch/ whatever. nothing makes me more angry then some city boy with boots and a hat with NO TAN, thay aint real.

    • Cowboy is a style. You don't have to actually be a pirate to dress up like one.

    • COWBOY IS NOT A STYLE, it is an honored way of life. like the knights of europe, with thier code of chivelry, cowboys had morals, and a unique life style. as someone who has worked on a ranch i will say first hand these "fashones" have functions. the hat to the boots, the denim shirts, it is all for purpose. it is misleading to parade around in these outfits without earning the title, the sun scorching, back breaking...well deserved title. i am offend to know that people think it is a fashon!! if you cant even ride a horse then why would you have spurs? and the good cowboys dont even need them, if your in an office you look retarded with cowboy boots, they dont need to be leather and water proff to double check a power point!! there are no snakes requiring your foot protection to cover your calf!!

    • Cowboy is not a style. Neither is pirate, ninja, or robot. They are lifestyles.

    • i am not a cowboy, but i have worked as a ranch hand. i am just saying it is a part of american history and i dont see people walking around dressed in bell bottom pants, afros, or thinking "jive" is still cool.

    • Cowboy is a way of life. All impersonators should be taught a lesson
