As an atheist - I dont believe anything about creation. I think that the theory of the big bang is probably right and it gets improved as we move froward in time.
I think that the theory that life was created by chemical reactions - that lead to biology.

There is no doctirne tellnig me what I have to beleive. There is no blind faith. I am not owrried that we as man have not got all the answers yet. That maybe we never will. I think it is great that we are pushing our understanding of the universe further and further.
The more we find out, the more athiests there will be. The treatment of Galileo and Copernicus for saying the Earth went around the Sun, or the way Charles Darwin was treated at first for his Origin of Species - just shows the problems religion has. As an atheist - scientists could come up with a completely new theory to the beginning of life or the universe and I would not have ot start defending my position....

    • The people that this guy's putting his faith in, are figuring out things about the world and the univers that we have been able to know before all the sience. In the areas of evolution I am starting to feel like giving science the name of "reinventing the wheel." Why must the pride of man make the world such a sad place. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING THAT I KNOW IS THAT I KNOW NOTHING.

This guy says he is an atheist and waiting for someone elso to figure out what he should belive. SCIENCE WILL NOT MAKE YOU A GOD DUDE, IT WILL ONLY TRAP YOU. ITS ABOUT MAKING A CHOICE.

    • A choice between rationality and superstition. I choose rationality.

    • I get a totally different reading, fairandknowledgable. Cambsman's answer shows openness to facts as they are discovered. Cambsman isn't putting faith in people to figure out answers, rather gathering and observing facts. There's no need to "believe" anything about creation - we don't know, but more information is available all the time for analysis, and cambsman obviously enjoys the process.

    • I am not telling cabsman he is wrong or uneducated, actually he seems very smart. Though he seems a bit short on keeping in consideration the other dimensions that manipulate and/or effect the way things look and react in the 3rd dimension that we observe ourselves with our sences. If cabsman can admit that there IS a CHANCE that the world is less than 10k yrs old and not talk to people like they are sooooooooo dumb I would take the topics he has educated himself on more seriously. Humblness is a virue.

    • Humility. I find Cambsman very humble indeed, one of the reasons I like him. Believe me, there is as much chance the world is less than 10 000 years old as that of the Loch Ness Monster flying by UFO to demolish the Twin Towers.

    • I'm fine with you thinking I sound like a robot. It is, in my opinion, better than sounding like a loony!

    • David: fairandknowledgable comes down at the end of each trip and cleans up the mess. Patience is paramount. His spelling, grammar, and sentence structure, and ability to form coherent thoughts suddenly peaks for the 3 hour period until the next acid tab takes effect. It's best just to wait this out before commenting.

    • I like how this discussion ended with everyone insinuating fairandknowledge is on acid. Feels like I'm watching a rebellious teen end an argument by getting the last word in and insulting the other party to make themselves feel better.

    • what argument? an argument is when two people have considered an issue but come to different conclusions which prompt them to resolve the disagreement by discussing their relative points of view.

so you see, right there, i think we all can agree, it wasn't exactly an argument.

There is NO argument here, only stubborness and intentional ignorance on the part of fairandknowledgable (which is not a very accurate nom-de-plume, BTW).

Creationists can't expect others to take them seriously if they're willing to throw out the facts and willingly believe that the Earth is only ten thousand years old. All it proves is that some people actually CAN be soooooooo dumb.
