I personally (as a Christian) see it as wrong, only because I worry if I lie about these fantastic characters (Santa & Easter Bunny) that my daughter would think "Well if Santa's not real, then why should I believe in God & Jesus". So I guess it depends on your personal & religious beliefs. I decided to tell my daughter the truth about Santa if she ever asked. She actually asked me at age 4, "Mommy is Santa REALLY real??? How could reindeer really fly?" I decided to tell her the truth, & she still loves Christmas. She starts talking about how she wants to decorate the tree & such. Also, she still loves the idea of Santa, even though she knows it's just a nice fellow in a suit playing the part. I hope that helps her trust that I will not lie to her, since trust is very important.
I personally was very upset with my parents when I figured out the truth about Santa when I was 7. I felt very stupid & angry for ever believing such a ridiculous tale. I also then started to have huge doubts about Jesus & God. It took me a few years, but I eventually came back around to my religious beliefs.
