I had 42 this morning when I opened my e-mail- Of which 40 were spam and chain letters...lol

Today, i started to read email in the Thunderbird inbox and had about 50 emails to go. My computer locked up and had to be reset. When it came back up, I apparently had lost the entire inbox. I receive new emails. What happened to the others?
