according to NY Times, the first shot was fired on the suspicion that Sean Bell was about to shoot at one of the cops. One of the officers heard him say "i'm going to get my gun"... either way I was less concerned about why he was shot than the sentence given to the police officers. Although I'm not in the favor for firing or indicting them all, the first one to shoot his gun should have suffered more serious consequences than a measly 3 week suspension. Oh well...
