Irregular menstrual cycles are very common in teenagers. Horomone fluctuations, stress, atheletics, and many other things can cause changes in the cycle. Additionally, some STDs can cause spotting between periods. If this is accompanied by excessive bleeding or abnormal pain, see a doctor immediately. If the irregularity becomes bothersome, doctors usually prescribe a hormone birth control to regulate the cycle.
