    You'd have a lot of time to do so.

    An amendment to the United States Constitution must be ratified by three-quarters of either the state legislatures, or of constitutional conventions specially elected in each of the states, before it can come into effect.

    I'm really tired of seeing and hearing people complain that the "The Government" is some Nazi-type of organization whose sole purpose is to hunt down "Patriotic Americans," and take away their Guns. And maybe their Women.

    From the way I see it, there are two choices.

    Either Participate in choosing the Government by Voting, supporting Candidates of your Choice to pass Laws that you agree with, Petitioning the Government for Redress from what you think is Unfair, or going to the Courts to Force Elected and/or Appointed Government functionaries to do their Constitutionally determined jobs.

    The Other Choice is to use your guns to Overthrow The Government of the United States by Force or Violence and establish the rule of what you like.

    And THAT is called TREASON!

    I'd be interested in a well-thought-out response from you.

    • if the government violates it authority by acting outside the law then it is our responsibility to stop them. that would not be treason.
      first we make our position known in the courts.
      we use jury nullification for any unconstitutional laws.
      then we protest.
      then we resist.
      as a last resort we take action to stop injustice.

    • I agree, that under any democratically elected government there is no chance, that means zero chance, that the Second Amendment of the Greatest Constitution Ever Written would be revoked.
      I also agree that those who put fear of revocation into the minds of people are using that fear to divert their attention from more important things, like the national debt, or Universal Health Care.

    • some of it is just fear mongering. but there are real threats from the courts. The second amendment says 'shall not be infringed' and the laws both state and federal GREATLY infringe on my choices. until the courts resolve those limitations I feel the government is in violation of the constitution.
      that said, universal health care is a very great threat to our economy and is NOT within the authority of our government.

    • Tell me your definition of "GREATLY."
      -
      And I'd also like to know how Universal Health Care could be a "very great threat to our economy." We already pay over 2 trillion a year for various health costs, we do not have great outcomes, and almost 50 million people are presently (Nov 27,2009) without any health coverage.
      -
      Single payer would cost about $3800 per capita and as there are 300 Million citizens, total cost would be around 1.3 Trillion, actually less than we spend now.

    • second amendment;
      I cannot purchase firearms of my choice because they are BANNED from import.
      I cannot modify my firearms as I choose because they are PROHIBITED features.
      I cannot purchase the ammunition of my choice because it is RESTRICTED to military and law enforcement only.

      UHC in regards to the economy;
      •many of the estimated 50 million without health care choose to not pay for health care.
      •how will adding 50 million people reduce our health care costs from 2 trillion to 1.3 trillion?
      •what will our benevolent masters do when they realize they have underestimated the costs of universal health care? reduce coverage or increase taxes or both?
      •what will they do when people stop entering the medical field since it would be difficult to pay for 9 years of med school on a government mandated pay schedule?
