I was at work the other day and there was a commotion with some work mates. Turns out that one of my colleagues had fed cabbage to her hamster, and another was telling her that it was bad for it! We weren't convinced so we rang the RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) and asked - sure enough, it is bad to feed cabbage to hamsters because they can't burp (or fart, incidentally) so they can't get rid of the gas created by foods such as cabbage! You learn something new everyday... Hope this helps...

***** Quoting Red John: "You can feed them cabbage. Hamsters do not have the same digestive systems as humans (two stomachs to start with)."

Actually, Hamsters have a two chambered stomach, not two stomachs. Yes they have different digestive systems from humans to start with, however I never compared the two, and that fact does not in any way answer the question.
