What are some ways to get my 12 month old to learn how to spoon-feed himself?

The easiest way is to have two spoons and give them their own spoon during meals and initially guide their hand to show then how to dip the spoon in, but be prepared for a lot of mess. Its a lot of fun for them but they soon get the idea, it just takes a little while for the hand-eye co-ordination to set in.
