My brother died a few years ago. I'm having trouble dealing with depression. I consider myself a proud person so I don't want to seek counseling. What other alternatives can I take to get better? It's killing me.

Pride is something that stops a person from doing what needs to be done. Talking is sometimes the best way to work through your emotions. A licensed professional like a psychologist or a social worker is trained at guiding you through through this time. There really is not a magical alternative. You might want to see a doctor. He/she might prescribe an antidepressant to take the edge off so you can talk about what's causing you so much pain. Your life is precious and you need to be able to live. Please don't let pride interfere with your healing.
