If the LdS Church is 'Christian' why did it mock both Christian ministers and Christian hymns in the pre-1990 temple endowment ceremony?

In 1838 God commanded the Early Mormons in Far West, Missouri to: "...build a house unto me, for the gathering together of my saints, that they may worship me..." The text strongly implies that "house" means "Temple". So when is it going to be built?

The Biblical word "elder" means "old one." The average worldwide life span for a male is currently 66-years. So why does the LDS Church call 19-year old teenagers "Elder" after merely going through the Melchizedek Priesthood Endowment Ceremony?
