In the film, One Fold and One Shepherd, scenes depicting Mayan-styled temples give the impression that Mormon lands were in Central America not upstate New York. Is this true?

    The actual title is "The Testaments of One Fold and One Shepherd."

    To answer the question, yes, we believe the Book of Mormon lands to be primarily in Central and South America. However, over the 1000 years covered by the Book of Mormon, we can assume that there was a lot of travel across the two continents.

    Moroni fled his enemies, eventually burying the engraved plates in the Finger Lakes region of what is now New York State. It is unlikely that he would have remained in the lands of his enemies as he fled from them when being led by the Lord.

    The film, which is a drama culminating in the visit of Christ to the Americas, is not itself doctrine or scripture; it is fiction which touches on scriptural history, similar in that way to films such as "Ben Hur" or "Barrabbas." Jesus is depicted in each, but the story is about people who come into contact with him, and the inspiring tone of each is about the changes and miracles in their lives as a result of Christ's ministry.

    The film does show that not all of the peoples of "Mormon lands" were believers in Christ, as is also told in the Book of Mormon.

    The drama in each film comes from the fact that there is unrighteousness in certain hearts, confusion in others, while the way to salvation is through Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God.
