The reason ears pop is because air cannot get through the eardrum to equalize the pressure. The answer is simple. Make a tiny hole in the eardrum and insert a ventilating tube. Then when you fly, you will always have equal pressure on both sides of the eardrum, thus eliminating popping.

This procedure is called a myringotomy and kids have it done all the time. I'm an adult and I had it done because my ears were clogged and I couldn't hear well but when I fly, I never have any popping problems.
