Help answer this question below.

How can you Christians say that Jesus is the only way to heaven? Are you saying that if a person does not believe in Jesus Christ, they are going to hell?

    It is my understanding that they will go to hell, but I don't believe that the Bible says that they will burn in hell and be tortured forever, as many seem to suggest. The only ones that I believe will receive this type of punishment are the devil, the beast, and the false prophet. Rev. 20:10 "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever." I understand that all others will be burnt up and die. Rev. 21:8 "But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolators, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death." The dead can't be tormented because it says in Ecclesiastes 9:5 "For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten."

    As far as the comment about accepting Christ after death: Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." You would have to interpret this passage for yourself.

    • Those who reject Christ will burn in the lake of fire as well. Revelation says in chapter 14, verse 10 that those that receive the mark of the Beast will be tormented with fire and brimstone. The Bible also says there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. that falls short of being the grave or oblivion.

    • Oh, there WILL be weeping and gnashing. But not forever. Remember, the last enemy in Revelation will be death itself. That means those who have made themselves God's enemies have already been destroyed. God is vengeful, but not cruel.
