Religiously, we're here for our God(s) who want(s) us to be at harmony with one another and have absolute faith in them/him/her/it.
Someone with a logical approach would say that mankind functions like all other life on the planet, we are here to survive and do so better in the future. We operate logically and can operate better if we make what is illogical logical, e.g. we neutralize threats and are attracted to the novel and new.
Scientists suggest that we are merely a demonstration of the newtonian synthesis of cause and effect and that there doesn't have to be some special reason for mankind.

Personally I think mankind is supposed to be the opposite to entropy and that we will destroy ourselves once our environment is perfect.

Don't worry though, even if there isn't a reason just do the best you can at lifes function and don't ask why because that's the plateau of all reasoning.

    • Although no one unfamiliar with the term would come to this conclusion by reading your answer, "logic" is actually a word that has a meaning.
