Help answer this question below.
Actually, you are asking a loaded question. You make a broad assumption that global warming is "caused" by a gas, leading all answers to name the culprit gas.
Most of the most recent scientific evidence studying climate change suggests that solar activity is the primary causal agent.
This does not contridict previous answers indicating that CO2 is a greenhouse gas. It is. However, I would refute the claim that it is the PRIMARY greenhouse gas, and suggest that Water Vapor is the PRIMARY greenhouse gas, and that CO2 is a trace gas, which represents only about 5% of the total combination of greenhouse gases in our atmosphere.
I would also refute the claim that CO2 is a driver of climate change, and suggest that the science be re-examined.

Yes, any honest scientist will tell you that water vapor is the most important of the green house gases by a large margin. Those that are saying that it is CO2 are either misinformed or dishonest.

Looks like I have to explain it again:
1) Yes, water vapor IS the dominant greenhouse gas. But water vapor loading in the atmosphere is in dynamic equilibrium with the oceans and is APPROXIMATELY CONSTANT. In contrast, gases such as CO2 and methane stay in the atmosphere much longer and are ACCUMULATING.
.
2) Why should we worry if the greenhouse effect goes up 5%. For the same reason that we notice big changes when water goes from 370 K to 375 K (liquid water turns to vapor). It's NOT a linear process. A 5 C rise in global temperatures means Greenland is barren of ice, Louisiana and Florida disappear, and Manhattan is under 20 ft. of sea water.

Ah, yes...Mr. Fred Singer, who apparently makes his living misrepresenting or "cherry-picking" the climate science.
